This stone internationally may be nominated as a granite however in the area of application of the European Standard (EN) this stone must be nominated as granite.

A brown granite from Ylämaa. Baltic Brown is a coarse-grained, non-foliated, brown viborgite granite with individual, large, round potash feldspar crystals 15 - 30 mm in diameter, which are surrounded by a greenish plagioclase circle. There is some variation in appearance among blocks from different quarry sites.

Granite: Granite is a common and widely occurring type of intrusive, felsic, igneous rock. Granites are usually medium to coarse grained, occasionally with some individual crystals larger than the groundmass forming a rock known as porphyry. Granites can be pink to dark gray or even black, depending on their chemistry and mineralogy.

Local Geology: Granicon Oy's Baltic Brown granite is well known worldwide for its uniform strength of colour. A strict classification system and large deposits, Granicon has the resources to provide its clients with high-quality blocks of uniform texture and colour.

Comment: Large and well-shaped blocks. The bedrock in the quarries makes it possible to take out large blocks, a clear and added value for Granicon clients. A large, well-shaped block is always a good place from which to start further processing. The modern Finnish quarrying technologies deployed by Granicon secure blocks that respond to the wishes of the client. A stone processor can exploit Granicon block to maximum.
