This stone internationally may be nominated as a granite however in the area of application of the European Standard (EN) this stone must be nominated as granite.
A red granite from Virolahti. Carmen Red is a coarse-grained, non-foliated deep red granite with individual, relatively large, usually round potash feldspar crystals (pytrite) ranging from 20 to 50 mm in diameter. There is some variation in appearance among blocks from different quarry sites.
All interior and outdoor uses.
Granite: Granite is a common and widely occurring type of intrusive, felsic, igneous rock. Granites are usually medium to coarse grained, occasionally with some individual crystals larger than the groundmass forming a rock known as porphyry. Granites can be pink to dark gray or even black, depending on their chemistry and mineralogy.
Local Geology: Granicon Oy's Carmen Red granite is well known worldwide for its uniform strength of colour. A strict classification system and large deposits, Granicon has the resources to provide its clients with high-quality blocks of uniform texture and colour.
Comment: Large and well-shaped blocks. The bedrock in the quarries makes it possible to take out large blocks, a clear and added value for Granicon clients. A large, well-shaped block is always a good place from which to start further processing. The modern Finnish quarrying technologies deployed by Granicon secure blocks that respond to the wishes of the client. A stone processor can exploit Granicon block to maximum.
